West Africa

As a result of one of our client’s extensive operations in Ghana and our successful partnership through the MSP program since 2018 and RPO since 2020, we made the decision to establish a local office to better support their evolving business needs. We opened Operam West Africa in 2021, with a dedicated team and infrastructure designed to reflect the Operam structure within the country, further strengthening our local relationships and on-the-ground capabilities.

We are now fully registered with the Ghana Oil and Gas industry regulator, The Petroleum Commission, and all statutory entities in Ghana, enhancing the scope of support we provide within the region. Our local presence allows us to offer seamless, in-country support for our client and their workforce.

Our team, which consists of Country Business & Talent Acquisition Partner and a Recruitment Business Partner operates directly from our client’s offices and on-site locations. They are dedicated to maintaining strong relationships, not only with our clients but also with our Consultants and Contingent workers. We have developed a robust network of back-office support to ensure our workforce feels supported and has direct access to assistance should any issues arise.

By embedding ourselves within the local framework, we continue to build on our success, ensuring smooth operations, strong communication, and a supportive environment for everyone involved.

In 2021, our client’s strategy was to take over the operation of an FPSO, which had previously been managed by a third party. They tasked Operam to fill 45 roles in 8 months with local Ghanian candidates. This SOW was delivered ahead of schedule, as shown below. The result was the delivery of significant value back to the client.

We have also had the pleasure of being involved in a variety of national events including the Celebration of the First Oil from the Jubilee South East Oil Field.

On September 8, 2023 Tullow Oil celebrated a significant milestone for Tullow Ghana – the commissioning of "First Oil" at the Jubilee South East Area. President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo joined Tullow, along with partners GNPC - GHANA, Kosmos Energy, PetroSA, and Jubliee Oil Holdings Ltd, for this momentous event. This achievement signifies a major advancement for Ghana's energy industry and the nation's prosperity.

It was rewarding to see months of preparation and hard work unveil in a seamless manner, which would not have been possible if not for the collaborative efforts of the Tullow and Operam team.

The ceremonial turning of the valve by the President marked a symbol of progress and collaboration, while highlighting the importance of government support in Tullow’s journey.

At the heart of all of this was our very own Kwame Ampong representing Operam in the capacity of Project Manager, leading Tullow departments to execute this seamlessly. Kwame received excellent feedback from Kwame Afreh, Tullow HR Manager Ghana:

‘Allow me to take this opportunity to single out Kwame Ampong to recognise him for his exemplary dedication, impeccable organisational skills and for going over and beyond expectations to support the JSE celebration project.
Back in June, I remember reaching out to him with a simple ask - spend a few hours each week with the project team acting in a PMO capacity and at a minimum being an extra pair of hands where required. This obviously was a significant understatement, looking at the sheer amount of work it has taken to get things into a full circle.
Even before the event last week, I had received a number of unsolicited and brilliant feedback regarding his exceptional delivery.
The unexpected turn of events and the change in date as per plan, no doubt threw a spanner in the works but you clearly owned it and most importantly kept your day job in balance. Not all heroes wear capes, sometimes they wear a nice jacket to the JSE celebration while keeping a cool head!.’
